January is a month rich with celebrations and traditions from around the world, offering us meaningful opportunities to reflect on the diversity of culture and faith. This week, we embrace a spirit of celebration and reflection: We honored Makar Sankranti, Pongal, and the Orthodox New Year. We also celebrate the First Week of Ordinary Time, continuing to recognize the Chinese and Vietnamese New Year while reflecting on the inspiring life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These moments remind us of the beauty of diversity, faith, and unity as we journey together.- Chinese/Vietnamese New Year: Known as the Lunar New Year, this vibrant celebration marks the start of the lunar calendar. Traditions include family gatherings, festive meals, cleaning the home to sweep away bad luck, and giving red envelopes (lai see or li xi) filled with money for good fortune. As we transition from the Year of the Dragon, known for its strength and ambition, we move into the Year of the Snake, symbolizing wisdom, introspection, and transformation! This shift invites us to embrace these traits as we navigate the year ahead.
- Let us use this day to remember his teachings and strive to live out these values in our daily lives, inspired by the Gospel and Christ’s call to love one another.

Updates/Reminders- ART schedule change for today - Teachers will be called independently.
- Message from Student Council:
- To foster open communication and encourage student feedback, each class has a suggestion box.
- This provides students with an opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas, and suggestions in a private and constructive manner.
- The suggestion boxes will be collected every Friday, ensuring that all feedback is reviewed regularly and can be addressed promptly.
- This initiative aims to create a more inclusive and collaborative learning environment for everyone.
- Today’s there is a funeral at 10am. Please be respectful and please be quiet when on the first floor and or walking through the front entrance of the church. - Teachers when bringing them down for recess/lunch make sure your students are very quiet.

About Dr. Lopez
Dr. Lopez has an M.S. and Ed.D. from St. John's University and a B.S. from Mercy College. She is certified by the State of New York as a school administrator, district administrator, and childhood 1-6 teacher. Dr. Lopez has been a principal for eight years, with the last four years spent at the High School within the Archdiocese of New York.
